You might find it useful to watch some of my videos on Youtube - you'll see the order I use to build up a painting (click here) But as a general rule I always work from light to dark and use glazing (layering) to slowly add depth to the painting. This might seem a silly, but I’d like to know the order in which you paint . . . which naturally will change from painting to painting, but the cherry blossom sketch for example. Did you paint the stem first then leaves? Start with a flower and work your way counterclockwise? I began trying to paint in May, and I’ve poured over pictures to see if I can determine where the artist began (and how ended). I’ve been using Van Gogh as my muse. I’ve loved his artwork since I was a preteen (I’m 72 now!). Thank you for your informative blogs. Namaste.

I love the idea of sketching to take the pressure off of making something” perfect”. I think I will take that concept and try to apply to other parts of my life where I worry about not be good enough!.A work in progress!! Thank you for having so many tutorials to read and enjoy above and beyond your watercolor class.
